William Bowyer
Title: Queen’s Terrace (Richmond Hill)
Description: Watercolour on paper, signed and dated ’85 bottom right. This is a famous spot on top of Richmond Hill, which overlooks the classic view over the winding Thames below. Interestingly, Bowyer has chosen to picture the viewpoint as opposed to the view itself. I know this place well as I used to live in a shared flat two minutes away in my younger days. In fact, to our right and out of view is the location of Richmond’s oldest pub still standing on its original site, The Roebuck, my old local. Happy days!
