Jack Crabtree

Title: Landscape, Port Noo, Donegall

Description: Mixed media in watercolour, ink and pencil on paper with deckled edges, signed and dated lower right.

A striking landscape of Portnoo, Donegal, in which Crabtree reduces the scene to broad areas of colour, line and space. An expansive blue sky sits above rust-red hills, while the foreground loosens into translucent washes and expressive marks.

There is an almost abstract quality to the composition, but the landscape remains firmly present within it. A wonderfully assured work, balancing the structure of the Donegal landscape with the freedom and spontaneity of Crabtree’s mark-making.

Please note: The work is currently sitting slightly out of alignment within the mount and would benefit from being reseated. The artwork itself is unaffected.
