Olly and Suzi
Olly Williams and Suzi Winstanley are a British artist duo whose collaborative practice is inseparable from the wild environments and creatures they depict. Friends since art school in the late 1980s, they have spent decades travelling to some of the most remote and inhospitable parts of the planet — from the Arctic ice floes to African savannahs — to work in situ alongside their subjects.
Their process is part painting, part performance, and part endurance: they often paint in the presence of the animals themselves, allowing paw prints, tooth marks, or splashes of water and mud to become part of the work. This physical closeness results in art that is not simply observational but a record of a shared moment between species.
The duo’s work straddles contemporary art and conservation activism, created with a commitment to raise awareness of endangered species and fragile ecosystems. Their paintings — vivid, gestural, and often marked by the unpredictability of their encounters — have been exhibited internationally and are held in both private and public collections.
Olly & Suzi’s unique collaboration captures not only the form of the wild but its spirit, energy, and vulnerability.
