Mick Rock
(1948–2021)
Mick Rock was a British photographer whose lens helped define the visual identity of rock and roll in the 1970s and beyond. Nicknamed “The Man Who Shot the Seventies,” he captured some of music’s most enduring images, including David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust era, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Queen, and Debbie Harry. His photographs, often intimate and theatrical, went beyond mere documentation, becoming part of the mythology of their subjects. Rock’s ability to connect with his sitters and channel the energy of the music into a single frame made his work a vital part of popular culture.
