Liam Hanley

Liam Hanley (1933–2019)
By and large a self-taught artist, Liam Hanley worked in a lyrical style, creating magical, romantic pictures deeply rooted in the natural world. His earliest inspiration came from the landscapes of Wales, where he grew up, before he found another source of endless inspiration in the English Home Counties countryside around Royston, Hertfordshire. There, Hanley discovered the setting that would fuel his compositions for the rest of his life. His paintings, often infused with musicality, surrealism, and even hints of constructivism, reveal a unique vision—one that continues to enchant collectors drawn to poetic interpretations of the landscape.
