Karl Fred Dahmen
(1917-1981)
Karl-Fred Dahmen was a major figure in post-war German art, celebrated for his experimental approach to painting and collage. His work often fused abstraction with symbolic and textural elements, exploring themes of memory, destruction, and renewal. A member of the influential artist group ZEN 49, Dahmen’s expressive surfaces and layered techniques made him one of the most respected voices in European abstraction. His paintings and works on paper are highly regarded by collectors.
