Vision of the Month – Autographs – Bridget Riley
This month’s Vision of the Month in autographs is this classic image of the op artist Bridget Riley. This modern reprint of a 1963 photo was taken by Romano Cagnoni in Riley’s studio. What it must have been like to be in Riley’s studio at that time, surrounded by such a visual feast. There are classic Riley paintings in this picture and it creates a sense of the futuristic. These works still glow to this day.
Riley has gone on to become one of the true giants of op art, primarily fashioning her sense of illusion and movement in black and white through the 60’s and moving more into colour later in her career. It is unusual to find signed photographs of her but we do everything we can to seek out the unusual. A beautiful 8 x 6 and it’s available here.
