Vision of the Month – Autographs – Elvis Presley

Posted: January 3rd, 2023

This month’s Vision of the Month in Autographs is a rare as hen’s teeth signed photograph of Elvis Presley. This really is the grail of rock ‘n’ roll.

The picture is a vintage glossy 7.25 x 9.5 head-and-shoulders photo of a young Elvis, signed and inscribed in blue ink “To Bobbie, Elvis Presley.”  In fine condition, with some mild rippling, a couple of trivial surface creases and small staining to upper left margin.

Unlike so many Presley autographs that appear on the market this picture has full provenance and it’s also unusual to find a signed photo in this size.

Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating, “The photo was obtained from a fan club president named Bobbie Briggs. The photo was autographed for her on August 5, 1961, in Florida while Elvis was filming his movie Follow That Dream…she snapped a photo of him signing the actual photograph. The photo is enclosed along with her fan club newsletter in which she details…how the photograph was signed.”

Accompanied by a copy of the aforementioned candid photo of Elvis signing the image, and a copy of the newsletter Bobbie wrote in which she documented her Elvis Presley encounter.

It also comes with a photocopy of the Elvis fan magazine in which Bobbie tells her story. A unique find that will delight anyone who is an Elvis fan. This is the King in all his prime glory and would make a gorgeous addition to any collection. And it is available here.
