Vision of the Month – Art – Antonio Asis
This month’s Vision of the Month in Art is this 1959 Antonio Asis gouache on paper of optical circles.

It is easy to forget just how revolutionary and visionary art and artists can be. We live in an age where we explore seeing things in incredible ways through technology and take so much for granted. But when you realise that artists like Asis were imagining perspectives, shapes and colours from their mind’s eye without the aid of computers, designing and laying out the colours and interlocking circles to create optical effects that are relentlessly shifting one has to sit back and admire in wonder. This would have been one of the very first pieces of work that Asis did in this style and one which he has continued to work with throughout the years. Circles are magical and none more so than the the circles of Antonio Asis.
