John Copnall

Title: Spanish Landscape

Description: Oil paint in colours on board, 1956. Signed and dated top right. A fabulous painting from Copnall’s 50’s abstract expressionist Spanish landscape period. Still as fresh today as the day it was painted. Copnall bought an old farmhouse in the village of Benalmadena in the hills of the Malaga countryside and where this painting was probably painted. He stayed in Spain until 1968 when he returned back to England.
