François Morellet

(1926 – 2016)

A French painter and sculptor who was self-taught and worked continually with repetitive geometric shapes and forms. His kinetic work looks as fresh today as the day it was created. He co-founded GRAV (Groupe de Recherche d’Art Visuel), the kinetic art-inspired group, in 1960, with a group of artists, including Francisco Sobrino, Julio Le Parc and Yvaral.
