Arman

(1928-2005)

Artist and sculptor, best known for his accumulative sculptural work of objects immersed in plastic and for his work where he dismantles an object by slicing, breaking or burning it and re-arranging the resultant changed piece into a different composition, much like a latter day cubist. He is probably most famous for his use of musical instruments within his work particularly violins.

He was part of the important art movement, LES NOUVEAUX RÉALISTES, which examined the role of art and artists within the modern world and which included César, Yves Klein, Raymond Hains, Daniel Spoerri and Jean Tinguely.
