Alistair Michie

(1921-2008)

Alistair Michie was trained as an architect but became a fighter pilot in the Second World War. After the war finished he became a freelance illustrator and graphic designer. He was the son of the illustrious Scottish artist, Anne Redpath, and in 1962 he saw the work of the Abstract Expressionists at the Venice Biennale and his path changed. His abstract paintings are inspired by the landscape around him and he made up for lost time and exhibited widely for the rest of his life.
